A Little Extra in the Jar
Preserving is no longer a necessity in most Swedish homes, but there is something deeply satisfying about turning a glut of fruit, berries or vegetables into something that will last. A few jars of homemade jam, pickles or chutney can make sure that very little from the garden, forest or fruit bowl goes to waste.
Today’s pantry is much more adventurous than it once was. Traditional jams and pickles sit alongside chutneys, relishes, flavoured jellies and condiments inspired by kitchens around the world. Some are made to preserve a seasonal harvest; others are simply too good not to make.
Here you’ll find jams, jellies, pickles, chutneys and condiments for the modern Swedish kitchen – things to spread, spoon, serve alongside dinner or tuck away in the cupboard for another day.
