Swedes have a famously sweet tooth, and cakes and desserts have a special place in both everyday life and celebrations. From a simple slice of cake with coffee to elaborate layer cakes for birthdays, weddings and midsummer, there is nearly always an excuse to bring something sweet to the table.<\/p>\n

Many traditional desserts make use of ingredients that could be preserved or stored through the long winter: apples and other orchard fruits, wild berries, cream, milk and grains.
